What you say here is so true and the points about having a plan and do proper research on your market are very valid. Unfortunately too many people go into internet marketing with really no idea of what it takes to run a business and this is a business the same as having a bricks and mortar kind.

Did you know that you can speed up WordPress and other CMS by up to 4 times faster – for FREE and easily!
You can just add 2 lines of php to the header.php to enable ZLIB compression – that will make your site (particularly WordPress) up to 4 times faster instantly!
You can also GZip your css files, etc which will save even more bandwidth and help the blog load even faster. There’s at least one GZip plugin for wordpress.
You can (of course) also use free tools to compress or crunch images too, which makes sites load quicker still.
Don’t forget to use wp-supercache for wordpress sites as well!
You can learn exactly how to do this by searching on google for each technique.
It is amazing how much difference this will make to your websites speed.
One minor thing to note is that right now the WordPress “all in one seo” plugin will stop creating the home page title you specify when you use compression and will instead show the blog title – but that’s not much of a problem and I’m sure it will eventually work with it.
